PuShKaRnA BrAhMiNs

Not sure of the facts below.......but................

Pushkarna is one of the oldest brahmin community in India. The Pushkarnas primarily hail from Sindh (Pakistan)and persian (Iran) region. Most of them migrated from Pakistan to India. The Migration began in periods of Islamic Invasion in 800 AD. Some versions of the historians claim that Migration began from Pakistan to Jaisalmer initially, and then later to Phalodi, Pokran, and Jodhpur. Subsequently Pushkarnas settled in other parts. The second phase of migration took place around partition in 1947. There have been evidences of small migration in between the period as well. Pushkarnas is a highly educated brahmin clan, with high literacy (>95%) rates.

The genesis of the word Pushkarna practice of devoution called Pushtikar Kriya, and not from the place Pushkar in Ajmer.
Known for their excellent flair in oration, and fearlesness, their academic brilliance and entrepreneurial excellence have given them, from time immemorial, one of the most important positions in the society.
Perhaps, one of the few brahmin communities having warrior like traits, it is believed that in past the Pushkarna brahmins were the rulers/landlords of the eastern Sindh, Southern Punjab (Saraikistan) and later Western rajasthan.

Historians have confirmed that pushkarna rulers, ruled over Sindh and Raja Dahir the last Hindu King was also a Pushkarna brahmin. It is believed that Pushkarna Brahmins were the main contributors in the foundation of Mewar state, in Southern Rajasthan.

Kewaliys are Pushkarna Brahmins

Hi There! To start with let me introduce kewaliyas.......Kewaliys are Pushkarna Brahmins and in anicient days , they were known for teaching kewalya gyanam, (A part of Pushitakar Kriya) and hence later known as Kewaliya or kewalia.

Though, Kewaliyas are very less in numbers, but due to high literacy rates they are very much in light with current social structure.

This is just an early discussion.........later we will share our thoughts about Pushkarnas.
